Mega distortion is a distortion type effect that adds power and warmth to any instrument or mix. I made it using a unique signal chain. There is a slight levelling that happens as well allowing details buried deeper in the mix to come to the front. This effect is also useful in beefing up thin recordings. Try it on lame drums or a weak piano.
Sampled at 96 khz using Prismsound Orpheus convertors this is a no nonsense – no compromise effect. Ten distortion kernels means that this is a CPU hog so if you don’t have a fast machine – God bless you.
EQ first, perhaps with my free Q-clone libraries then place this baby into the mix and hear your mix come alive with power and analog warmth.
Use the input fader and drive knob together to increase the effect. The louder the signal is the more distortion you hear. On a loud mix you can really hear the effect. The effect adds gain so turn the output down a tad to avoid clipping your output and do avoid extreme gain settings – Nebula has its limits.
Hope you like it.
Best wishes and God bless

  1. The program doesn’t work on nebula 3 free :(

  2. Hi pylorca. That’s a real shame. You may have to try it with the commercial version.I haven’t sampled with NAT that much so will figure out how to make all things compatible soon.
    God bless

  3. Hi Henry – thank you for this brilliant program. I have been using it recently and have to say I love it and it really brings a genuine analogue feel into the box…I wanted to come here to thank you – and also to plead that you try some more ‘warmifying’ Nebula presets! Perhaps something slightly more gentle? I have been using this in parallel and mixing the 2 signals – and it gives a great compression effect also – lovely! But its so good I’d love to have more!

    Best regards

  4. Hey SWAN808 – Thanks for the encouragement. I am away from home for a while but when I get home I will see what I can come up with. Give it a month or too though.Take care. Henry

  5. wow sounds great, cant wait to try it!

  6. Hi Henry – any news on new saturation programs? :)

  7. Got a new pre in the works and some more saturation in the coming weeks.

  8. Hi!
Tried your program and it`s great, juicy low mid range! May I ask what the content of this signalchain is, what did you sample?

  9. Hey Seb,

Safesound P1 plus distortion plugin. The safesound has that warm low end mojo thing going on and I came out of the headphone output which makes it sound as if the audio has gone to tape. I then returned the audio through a distortion plugin to increase the harmonics. That’s it!!!

    Glad you like it
